We're glad you found us

Hello, we're Emma and Liz

We know that if you're reading this page, things may feel difficult right now. Maybe mornings have become a battle, maybe your child has stopped wanting to leave the house at all, or maybe you're just trying to work out what your options actually are. Whatever has brought you here, we're glad you found us.

Roots is a part-time provision for young people struggling with school attendance. Many of our young people have an EHCP or are supported through EOTAS, and we also welcome private and self-funded places for families who need support outside of that process. We also support home educating families with regular sessions and access to functional skills exams.

There is no minimum amount of attendance that counts as enough here. Whether your child joins us for one session a week or two, that attendance is celebrated rather than measured against a target. We work with the whole family, not just the young person in front of us, because we understand the strain a child’s struggle to attend school can put on the rest of the household. Many of the families who come to us have been through real trauma around school attendance, and we see it as our role to provide a safe, steady space where young people can heal and move forward at their own pace.
